Garbling gravel and dirt about a Tony;
He spits in his grave to roll over
And chokes on Federalist No.s for breath.
A is for Abigail Adams who remains salty,
The love letters a waste of time;
Rejecting the role of ghost
Knowing rulers of men are faulty.
L is for Lincoln refusing to renounce,
The pendulum swings!
All men created authoritarian and socialist alike
Under [G]
god we trust to unite.
L is for Lewis who is reborn,
Bloody Sunday in Selma resurfaces;
Alabama bleeds to Broadview
Johnson leading reform.
O is for Obama’s shadow lurking in limbo,
A DEI nightmare in the White House;
It sits on the sidelines of the basketball court
Mourning destruction of the East Wing.
W is for Walt Whitman who ponders publication dates,
Too early or too late;
No longer caring with Democracy dying
The administration foregoing his poetry stakes.
E is for Emerson who is waking up,
Individual bones saluting fewer laws;
The movement directed
Nature transcending flag force.
E is for Eisenhower who warned us,
Howling at misplaced ghouls
How bad do you want power?
A coffin’s worth of icy raids.
N is for Nixon who understands This,
Thy enemy blames thy house;
Bugs and Bills are Beautiful
When hatches and chainsaws stop There.
