Meet Pueblo’s 2026-2027 team and their goals for the future of Pueblo.
Annette Prado – Pueblo Editor-in-Chief
Hello! My name is Annette Prado and I am the Pueblo editor-in-chief for the 2026-2027 school year. Pueblo is a bilingual platform for Latinx journalists and creatives to share their work on topics that matter to them. Our main goal is to bring together the Latinx community at DePaul and the city of Chicago.
I was a staff writer for Pueblo for the 2025-2026 school year and had so much fun writing stories on various topics like El Baile de la Iguana and Bad Bunny’s Superbowl Halftime show. Pueblo maintained a consistent publishing cycle during the last school year, including its participation in the 14 East newsletter, In The Loop. While those are two things I still want to continue this year, there are also new goals and challenges that I am excited to bring to Pueblo.
For this school year, I want to grow Pueblo’s presence at DePaul by bringing in more stories focused on Latinx organizations, events and student life. Recruiting new and diverse voices is another goal for Pueblo as we would love to grow in different story forms. ¡Queremos tu voz!
While working last year, I couldn’t help but notice the lack of Latinx journalists and creatives involved in DePaul student publications. You do not need to be Latinx to contribute to Pueblo. Our goal is to bring better representation to the Latinx community through different stories tackling various topics written by anyone.
Whether you want to share a short story, opinion piece or any other media form that dives into a Latinx topic or representation, Pueblo would love to have your voice!
Naimah Arteaga – Pueblo Creative Editor
Hello everyone! My name is Naimah Arteaga and I am the creative editor for Pueblo this year. When I saw that this position was being offered, I knew it was something I wanted to do.
As a theatre artist, creative writer and student journalist, I felt drawn to being in a position that would allow me to oversee the creative side of writing. As a Palestinian-Mexican American, there are so many parts of my identity that I continue to unravel as I move through life here at DePaul and in the city.
Poetry, prose and creative writing have helped me discover more parts of myself and healthily express who I am. Having been raised from both cultures, I sometimes feel torn between them and how one can embrace both.
Through writing and performing, I have been able to grapple with it. My goal is to expand my writing skills and get to know people (like you!) through their writing and experiences. I am so excited for this year and to help make Pueblo a standout experience for those who join.
Kateleen Quiles – Pueblo Social Media Editor
Hello Pueblo readers! I am so excited to be writing to you all. I am Kateleen Quiles, a senior theatre arts and communications and media student! This year, I will be serving as the social media editor for Pueblo.
My experience with journalism has been nothing short of twists and turns. I initially started out as a Pueblo writer in my Freshman year, eager to learn more about writing and what it could teach me about myself and the world around me.
Although I am now pursuing communications and media, I still have lots to say about the Latino community – and we invite you to listen! My goal for the Pueblo social media is to generate more multimedia reels, varying from short-form news to relatable, funny videos!
However, this cannot happen without you. ¡Queremos tu voz!
We are looking for more passionate, eager writers with commentary to uplift in the Latino community. At Pueblo, we tend to publish personal essays, literature and prose, opinions and traditional news-based journalism – but we are not limited to these options!
If you have a story to tell, writing to share and an eagerness to report, Pueblo is the publication for you. As social media editor, I frequently check the Instagram DMs for any questions. Do not hesitate to reach out!
